Paraprofessional Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our team at New Story School. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism or emotional/behavioral disorders in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with individualized education plans and provide support in small groups
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, adhering to health and safety protocols
  • Implement lesson plans and activities designed by lead teachers, promoting student engagement and learning
  • Communicate effectively with lead teachers, therapists, and other staff members to ensure seamless support for students
  • Record and maintain accurate data on student progress, attendance, and assessments
  • Participate in staff training programs and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills
  • Perform non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack time, toileting, and clothing routines
  • Assume a leadership role in the classroom when the lead teacher is absent, providing guidance and support to students and staff
Requirements:
  • Ability to perform non-violent crisis intervention techniques, including verbal and physical redirection
  • Capacity to react quickly and physically assist students in emergency situations
  • Full certification in assigned crisis management programs
