Direct Support Professional Supervisor

Coarc is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Direct Support Professional Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our designated program location. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring appropriate staff coverage, supporting the emotional, physical, and personal well-being of individuals assigned, and fostering a spirit of partnership with each individual and their Circle of Support members.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and support the development of staff, providing training and orienting new staff to their duties and responsibilities.
- Conduct routine meetings with program staff to exchange issues, concerns, plans for significant events, and updates of Agency policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper use of individuals' funds, count and dispense individual funds, and provide instruction in financial matters to all staff as necessary.
- Ensure that staff is educated about individuals' needs, behaviors, and procedures, and continually assess the needs of all individuals, including medical needs.
- Provide supervision and guidance to all DSPs assigned, coordinate and review all employee actions with the Supervisor and program management staff.
- Develop a shared relationship with the individuals served, supporting their unique personal desires and needs, and assisting them in becoming self-advocates.
- Support healthy living practices, including diet, exercise, stress reduction, and emotional support, medical and dental health practices as needed or requested by the individuals served.
- Understand and report all instances of physical or emotional harm to the individual by others, and ensure the safety and well-being of the individual immediately following any incidents of physical or emotional harm.
- Be familiar with all safety measures and procedures for on-site and off-site activities, and assist the individuals served to learn basic responses to fire emergencies, environmental emergencies, and medical emergencies.
- Assist the individuals served in maintaining a comfortable, orderly, and clean environment, and support them in enjoying life by teaching them to care for their surroundings.
- Encourage and support the individuals to take part in volunteer, educational, recreational, and work activities in their community.
- Provide medication administration support to each individual based on their skills and abilities as defined in their Plan(s), and comply with all Agency policies and procedures relative to the administration of medications to individuals served.
- Participate in the development and review of each individual's service planning meetings, know and understand the unique aspects of each individual's Plan(s), and document all services delivered in the mode and manner prescribed by Agency policies and procedures.
- Advocate for changes on each individual's behalf when necessary or requested by the individual, and participate in any other Team meetings with or for the individual necessary to ensuring each individual's needs and wants are being addressed and that each individual is successfully supported towards meeting their stated outcomes/goals.
- Safely operate Agency vehicles per policy and per NYS Traffic Laws, and attend all required trainings and maintain all required certifications necessary to support the individuals.
- High School Diploma or GED (now called TASC).
- One year's experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Exceptional written, communication, and computer skills.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to be certified in all required trainings.
- Occasionally required to lift to 50 pounds.
- Assist individuals with personal care.
