Job Title:Association Lifeguard/Swim Instructor Trainer

At the YMCA of Greater Boston, we are seeking a highly skilled Life Guarding and Swim Instruction Trainer to join our team. As a vital member of our Aquatics department, you will be responsible for teaching lifesaving skills, certifying positions required by the YMCA, and providing quality training to all employees.

About the Role:The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, developing their leadership skills and shaping the future of young children. You will be expected to instruct various YMCA training courses, issue and collect required paperwork, and adhere to all YGB pool rules and policies, as well as MA DPH requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet with Aquatics employees early in employment for certification.
  • Assemble classrooms to meet required guidelines.
  • Instruct YMCA training courses in accordance with all parameters.
  • Issue and collect required paperwork, adhering to association procedures.
  • Issue certification cards following company policies.
  • Adhere to all YGB pool rules and policies, and MA DPH requirements.
  • Know and activate center and pool EAP when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA safety standards and regulatory health and safety requirements.
  • Prevent emergencies by scanning the pool continuously.
  • Recognize emergencies or potential incidents and address them immediately.
  • Perform, assist, or rescue as needed.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or greater.
  • Current YMCA LGI, YMCA YSL/T, and American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) Instructor level certifications.
  • Participate in all center safety and quality drills.
  • Attend all required in-service trainings and additional trainings as needed.
  • Ability to speak confidently and conduct lifesaving courses as a lead instructor.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds independently.
  • Must be enthusiastic, responsible, articulate, and well-organized.

Salary:
