Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Planner/Scheduler to support our operations at Continental Maritime of San Diego. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting work specifications and drawings, formulating and developing resources loaded schedules, and maintaining status through progressing and update interviews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret work specifications and drawings to develop schedules and resource plans
  • Formulate and develop resources loaded schedules and time-oriented work package networks
  • Maintain status through progressing and update interviews
  • Utilize Microsoft Project, EVM Software, and the Integrated Management System
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective planning and scheduling
Requirements
  • Knowledge of Navy ship operations, maintenance, and repair
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, manuals, memoranda, and sketches
  • Effective writing and editing skills
  • Knowledge of quality assurance, testing, combat systems, engineering, and planning practices imposed on the shipyard by NAVSEA
  • Standard planning and scheduling methodologies and tools
  • Excellent PC skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Primavera 6
  • Thorough knowledge of company Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • US Citizenship required
  • Ability to acquire a DBIDS credential
Working Conditions
  • May be exposed to fumes, irritants, laser light, toxic chemicals, and potential electrical shock in an industrial or shipboard environment
  • May involve gathering data while observing rotating or operating machinery
  • Constantly works in an industrial or shipboard environment
  • Frequently moves throughout the yard
  • Must be able to maneuver, ascend and descend stairs/ladders/ramps located inside various ships
  • Ability to move up to 40 pounds
  • May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors
