ARNP Psychiatric Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to provide mental health care services to patients incarcerated in the Snohomish County Jail. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatric nursing and experience working in a correctional setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive mental health care services, including examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients
- Develop and implement health care plans according to established standards of care
- Provide treatment and advice to patients, prescribe medications, and secure case history and related pertinent information
- Examine patients, utilize laboratory and other diagnostic tests, and interpret findings for diagnosis
- Diagnose ailments and provide necessary treatment and follow-up treatment as indicated
- Consult with jail mental health professionals and community providers as needed
- Refer patients with serious medical conditions to ARNP (Adult Medicine) or mental health professional staff as indicated
- Maintain clinical records on all patients seen in a manner consistent with confidentiality of health care records guidelines and department regulations protocol
- Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) certification in the State of Washington
- Current Washington Psychiatric ARNP licensure with prescriptive authority
- Master's degree in nursing or related health care field
- Prefer one (1) year of experience in a mental health setting, with demonstrated ability to relate effectively with people of varied backgrounds
- Past experience in correctional health care preferred
The work is performed in a maximum-security detention facility for adults. Employee may be required to work weekends and holidays as assigned. There is constant exposure to hazardous chemicals, hazardous waste, bio-hazardous material; pharmaceuticals, infectious diseases and in-person contact with inmates.
Physical and mental demands include ability to perform tasks involved in operating common office equipment; move and/or lift up to forty (40) pounds; sit and stand for long periods of time; manual dexterity to include bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and reaching; digital dexterity; talking; seeing; hearing; reasoning and analyzing complex information.
