Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled LPN to join our team in the Gastroenterology Division at Washington University in St. Louis. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in delivering high-quality medical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a liaison between physicians and patients, fielding phone calls, scheduling appointments, and communicating lab results.
  • Schedule tests and procedures, coordinating with inpatient and outpatient nursing staffs, patients, and physicians.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and thoroughly, making appropriate phone calls and coordinating care.
  • Explain pre- and postoperative instructions to patients and call patients with test results.
  • Occasionally assist physicians in the outpatient office setting and support the physician follow-up plan for patients.
  • Aid in updating and data entry in electronic medical records.
  • Promptly alert physicians of abnormal test results.
  • Assist in the assessment, monitoring, and termination of prescribed tests.
  • Observe, monitor, and respond appropriately to changes in patient treatments.
  • Participate in development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans with other members of the patient care team.
  • Answer phone calls, screen and route calls, and provide information in accordance with Division policy.
  • Provide assistance in the day-to-day administration of physician practices.
  • Arrange and coordinate meetings as requested.
Requirements
  • Graduate of LPN program.
  • Current LPN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, or received within 3 months from date of hire.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required and must be obtained within one month of employment.
