Senior Medical Assistant

As a Senior Medical Assistant at Northwell Health, you will play a vital role in leading and guiding Medical Assistants in the performance of their duties. This includes administering para-professional nursing care, preparing patients for physicians, and recording laboratory tests. You will also be responsible for coordinating the organization of patient needs, including preparing and organizing patient clinic charts.
Key Responsibilities:

- Coordinate the organization of patient needs, including preparing and organizing patient clinic charts.
- Assist in prioritizing and assigning work based on workflow fluctuations.
- Handle and/or act as a resource for difficult or complex issues.
- Support management in determining methods and procedures for new tasks.
- Point of contact for vendors.
- Perform all functions of a Medical Assistant.
- Stock patient rooms/department with supplies and equipment as necessary.
- Conduct audits of the department for supplies and equipment and perform ordering functions.
- Collaborate with members of the healthcare team in coordinating and implementing plans for patient care.
- May record patient history for medical staff review.
- Perform measurement and screening procedures according to protocol, including height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, audiometry, and vision testing.
- Record and plot findings on patient charts.
- Collect specimens, including drawing blood, and/or assist the physician or nurses in collection of specimens, as required.
- Complete requisitions, labels, and routes specimens according to standard procedure.
- May perform electrocardiograms in accordance with physician orders.
- Assist physicians and nurses with examinations and procedures related to the clinical area-of-assignment.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms; stock assigned rooms and cupboards and ensure that par levels of supplies are maintained on a daily basis.
- Ensure that all data collected for procedures performed is recorded clearly and accurately on appropriate forms and in medical records.
- Perform a variety of other functions, such as maintaining medical records, processing insurance forms, preparing financial records, etc.
- Perform related duties as required.

Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of Medical Assisting program at an accredited school OR 1-3 years of medical assistant experience, OR 1-3 years of Emergency Medical Technician experience with current NYS DOH EMT certification OR 1-3 years of CNA experience with valid Current Nursing Assistant Certification in New York State, required.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, required.
