Direct Support Professional for Autism Center

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team at Alpine Learning Group, Bergen County's Premier Autism Center. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing innovative, comprehensive, and scientifically validated services to individuals with autism and their families.
About the RoleThe Direct Support Professional is responsible for supervising and teaching assigned learners throughout the day, implementing instructional programs, and providing job coaching at Supported Employment/Volunteer sites. This position requires strong communication skills, proficiency with educational technology, and the ability to work with diverse individuals and needs.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and teach assigned learners, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Implement evidence-based instructional programs tailored to individual needs
- Provide job coaching and support at Supported Employment/Volunteer sites
- Transport learners to/from community sites (e.g., employment, volunteer, daily living activities)
- Collect, summarize, and report data on learner progress
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Have experience working with adult learners with disabilities (preferable)
- Be able to successfully complete the Alpine Learning Group training program
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
This role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling fine finger dexterity. The employee must have the strength and agility to assist with movement of learners during crisis intervention. A valid NJ driver's license is also required.
Clearances & ScheduleCandidates must undergo DDD Criminal Background Fingerprint Check, Mantoux TB Test, CARI, Check, Citizenship Status (I-9), Drug Screening, and Motor Vehicle Check prior to hire. Part-time schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00-4:00.
