Job Summary:

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a skilled Child Life Specialist to provide psychosocially and developmentally based assessment and support to patients and their families in the Outpatient Specialty Clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient/family psychosocial and developmental strengths and risks
  • Plan and implement interventions to promote effective coping with healthcare experiences
  • Provide emotionally and developmentally appropriate play and other experiences
  • Enhance quality of patient care through participation, documentation, and communication with the healthcare team
  • Teach, supervise, and evaluate work of volunteers and Child Life interns

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Human Development, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Child Life, or related field
  • Completion of a Child Life internship of 600 hours
  • One year job experience or a Master's degree with some work experience preferred
  • Certification at the professional level through the Association of Child Life Professionals must be acquired within the first year of employment
