Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapy Department Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Respiratory Department, including staffing, scheduling, and providing therapeutic modes of respiratory treatments to patients as needed. This role also involves overseeing the coordination, scheduling, and assisting with bronchoscopy procedures, as well as providing new hire orientation, employee training, evaluations, corrective action, and staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Respiratory Department's operations, including staffing, scheduling, and providing respiratory treatments
  • Coordinate and schedule bronchoscopy procedures
  • Provide new hire orientation, employee training, evaluations, corrective action, and staff development
  • Assist with inventory and ordering, monitoring rental equipment needs, and handling instrument issues
  • Help ensure productivity standards are met and financial goals are achieved
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to meet the facility's vision and mission

Qualifications

  • Four years of clinical respiratory therapy experience, including at least three years in critical care and one year in a lead or supervisory role
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of healthcare professionals
  • Demonstrated good leadership skills with a commitment to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct
  • Clinical experience and theoretical/technical competence in all present specialized areas serviced by the Cardiopulmonary Department

Education/Licensure

  • Associate Degree graduate from an accredited respiratory care program
  • Bachelor Degree preferred
  • License Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) by the Texas Medical Board
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist by National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Current Healthcare provider BLS and obtain ACLS, PALS, and NRP within days of hire date and current thereafter
