The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Nutritionist to join our team at our WIC Center in Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. As a key member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in helping us achieve our goal of improving the lives of disenfranchised communities.

Job Summary

The Qualified Nutritionist will be responsible for assessing the eligibility of applicants for the WIC program, providing nutrition education, and supporting clients through individual care plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nutrition, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Eligibility Assessment: Verify and document the eligibility of WIC participants, provide general knowledge of the WIC program, and orient new participants.
  • Nutrition Education: Develop and implement individual care plans, oversee high-risk care, and provide individual and facilitated group discussions using the Participant-Centered Nutrition Education (PCNE) technique.
  • Program Administration: Participate in the administration of the WIC program, evaluate documents, and conduct participant-centered nutrition assessments.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. or B.A. in Food and Nutrition, including at least 18 semester credits in nutrition.
  • Experience: Two years of professional experience in nutrition, preferably with a focus on community-based programs.
  • Certification: Registered Dietitian preferred but not required.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual required (Spanish).
  • Skillset: Excellent communication skills, customer service experience, and the ability to work independently.
