Job Title: Safety Associate

Job Summary:

As a Safety Associate with Block By Block, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for downtown workers, residents, and visitors. You will patrol designated areas on foot, serving as a deterrent to unwanted behavior and activity, while providing information, assistance, and directions to those in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Deterrent: Traverse assigned zones to prevent unwanted activity through a visible, uniformed presence.
  • Observe and Report: Monitor for suspicious behavior or activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods.
  • Address Unwanted Activities: Firmly and courteously request compliance from individuals engaging in low-level quality of life crimes.
  • Hospitality and Customer Service: Provide friendly greetings and directions to pedestrians, as well as share information and recommendations to visitors.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Establish professional contacts with district businesses to share information and promote Block By Block's services.
  • Reporting: Develop written incident reports and property condition reports, as well as provide daily written reports to document shift activities.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a positive, professional environment in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and Block By Block standards.

Requirements:

Physical Abilities:

  • Ride a Bike or Traverse Continuously: Must have the physical capacity to ride a bike or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with normal breaks.
  • Work Outdoors: Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.

Communication:

  • Speak, Read, and Write English: Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
