Drilling Operations Assistant

At WSB, we're seeking a skilled Drilling Operations Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our drilling operations team, you will assist our Driller with geotechnical drilling operations at designated locations across the state. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and efficient completion of drilling projects, while also performing light to moderate maintenance on our drill rigs as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Driller with setting up rig on boring locations identified by client.
  • Transport auger and sampling equipment from the drill rig to the boring location and return them when completed.
  • Backfill borings as requested by client.
  • Break-down and store equipment for move to next location.
  • Ensure all equipment is accounted for, reasonably clean, and secured on the drill rig at the end of the day.
  • Perform necessary light to moderate drill rig maintenance.

Desired Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate safety hazards.

Desired Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Previous drilling experience/familiarity with heavy equipment.
