POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Billing Specialist at Syracuse Community Health is responsible for processing claims, reviewing payments, and managing claim adjustments within the EPIC system. This role requires close collaboration with patients, front desk staff, and insurance carriers to ensure optimal submission and payment for all billable visits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Process claims and manage claim adjustments within the EPIC system
• Review payments and ensure accurate reimbursement
• Collaborate with patients, front desk staff, and insurance carriers to resolve billing issues
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of billing activities

REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Additional education or certification in healthcare or medical billing preferred
• Three years of medical billing experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in EPIC
• One year of experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Medical Billing Specialist will occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, talk or hear, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
