Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Inpatient Lead Coder to join our team at All Med Search. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing quality data, identifying trends, and implementing process improvements to ensure the highest level of coding accuracy and compliance.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the review and improvement of processes and services to ensure optimal coding performance.
  • Analyze weekly/monthly quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and present coder education as needed to address trends and problematic areas.
  • Collate and present quality trends and findings to the VRM management team, vendor teams, and HIM leadership.
  • Monitor and ensure vendor staff adhere to coding guidelines and policies.
  • Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of medical coding practices and concepts to ensure vendor coders adhere to coding guidelines and policy.
  • Assist in managing coding vendor daily workflow, including work queues, turnaround times, and quality.
  • Perform quality reviews of inpatient and/or outpatient records as needed, validating codes assigned by vendor coders.
  • Validate accuracy of codes assigned by CAC tool and assist in monitoring coders' CAC adoption behavior.
  • Monitor and assist vendors in the monthly random, focus, prebill review, and Ad Hoc quality review process.
  • Submit and review coding appeals as appropriate.
  • Monitor and maintain communication logs between HSCs and coding vendors.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in HIM/HIT preferred.
  • Management/Supervisory experience in a healthcare-related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years acute care inpatient and/or outpatient coding experience required.
  • Coding auditing/monitoring experience strongly preferred.
