Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse I to join our Cardiovascular Surgery team at the UT Health Science Center in Katy, Texas.

Job Description

This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate nurse to provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

  • As a member of our team, you will function as a key contributor to providing comprehensive care to patients with complex healthcare needs, promoting quality patient outcomes and customer satisfaction.
  • You will adhere to the broad scope of practice established by the Nurse Practice Act and ensure the efficient operation of the clinic or unit by proper scheduling and planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver exceptional patient care, prioritizing safety, effectiveness, patient-centeredness, timeliness, efficiency, and equity.
  2. Use systematic approaches to provide nursing care, perform focused and comprehensive assessments, and prioritize, synthesize, and document assessments and nursing plans of care.
  3. Implement plans of care within the scope of practice, assign and monitor other nurses, delegate and monitor unlicensed staff, and initiate standing orders for prescription refills and labs.
  4. Evaluate patients' responses and outcomes to education and therapeutic interventions, communicate effectively with the collaborative team, and escalate critical results and issues in an appropriate and timely manner.
  5. Perform on-site and telephone triage using best practice guidelines and documentation to ensure patients receive the right level of care in the right setting at the right time by the right caregiver using the right equipment and supplies.

The ideal candidate will possess current RN licensure in Texas, Basic Life Support certification, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (preferred). A Bachelor's degree in nursing or associate degree in nursing from an accredited institution is also required.
