Heavy Duty Mechanic Job at Performance Foodservice Overview

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is a crucial member of our maintenance team, responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of our fleet.

Job Summary:

  • Promote safety and efficiency in our operations by performing preventative maintenance and repairs on medium to heavy-duty diesel equipment.
  • Work under minimal supervision to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Salary and Benefits:

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience including PM's, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair and experience in refrigeration.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery requiring the use of hand tools and power tools.
  2. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
  3. Diagnose issues with diesel equipment and perform repairs as needed.
  4. Document work orders and maintain accurate records of repairs and preventative maintenance performed.
  5. Train and provide guidance to junior mechanics.
