We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at CityVet - Oaklawn.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary medicine and excellent communication skills. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by assisting the veterinarian with various tasks.

Your primary responsibility will be to relieve the veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail, allowing them to focus on more complex cases. You will also be responsible for facilitating and streamlining communication between the operating room, front office staff, and clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures, including administering anesthesia, taking x-rays, and gathering lab specimens.
  • Obtain samples from patients, such as stool, blood, and other biological materials, for testing.
  • Test samples and help interpret results.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and other treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
  • Communicate with clients to obtain medical information and provide instructions on animal care.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in veterinary technology or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and medication administration.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
