Acute Psychiatric Nurse Pool Specialist

Job Summary:
The Pool Psychiatric Nurse is a part-time role providing direct care staff work on a rotating schedule. Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible and accountable for patient care during assigned shifts.
- Establishes patient priorities and evaluates patient outcomes.
- Acknowledges physician orders and administers medication and treatments.
- Participates with the treatment team in the development of patient treatment plans.
- Provides individual and group therapeutic interventions.
- Provides ongoing patient education.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of psychiatric nursing principles, medical, geriatric, and forensic nursing.
- Applicable hospital/treatment policies and procedures, patient rights, and responsibilities.
- Concepts of performance improvement activities.
- Basic computer programs and software related to the health record.
- Performance Management (PM), Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and Lean methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years work experience as a psychiatric nurse or in the care and treatment of the mentally ill, developmentally disabled or physically ill and/or incapacitated patients.
