Electrical Engineer for Satellite Constellation Development

Palo Alto, California, United States ArrayLabs, LLC Full time

Array Labs is revolutionizing the field of satellite technology by creating a constellation that will provide the first accurate, real-time 3D map of the world. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing the hardware platforms for radar, communications, and compute systems that will be integrated into satellites and cutting-edge ground infrastructure.

Your primary focus will be on owning the design of complex electrical/electronic platforms, from initial architecture to final manufacturing. This includes requirements capture, system trade-offs, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, hardware bring-up, debugging, manufacturing, and test.

You will work closely with our antenna, RF, communications, and radar engineers to rapidly move from clean-sheet designs to full operational deployment in space. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing complex electrical/electronic platforms, including requirements capture, system trade-offs, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, hardware bring-up, debugging, manufacturing, and test.
  • Responsible for any electrical and power accommodations, including EMI/EMC evaluation for hosting sensitive compute, RF, communications, and sensing payloads.
  • Rapid iteration prototyping and joint hardware/firmware development, partnering with software engineers to bring-up and test new hardware designs.
  • Implementing data-driven hardware design improvements by analyzing data collected during testing (electrical, vibration, thermal, radiation) and on orbit.
  • Executing reviews of hardware design documentation, schematics, and test plans.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience in consumer electronics, power electronics, robotics, aerospace, automotive, and/or communications fields. You should be familiar with hardware engineering principles, including requirements gathering, architecture/design, source control management, build processes, reviews, and testing methods.

Additionally, you should have a solid understanding of high-speed board design, simulation, and validation techniques. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to learn new concepts rapidly and work in a fast-paced environment under significant time constraints.

If you are a motivated and experienced electrical engineer looking for a challenging role in the field of satellite technology, we encourage you to apply.
