Job Title: Intellectual Property Lawyer

About the Role:
The Senior Patent Counsel position at ADM is an exempt level opportunity that reports to the Chief Counsel, Intellectual Property. As a key member of the team, you will support the protection of the company's intellectual property.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patent preparation and prosecution in areas such as molecular biology, biochemistry, and chemistry.
  • Advising senior scientists and business executives on non-infringement and patent invalidity issues.
  • Drafting memoranda related to these matters.
  • Managing outside patent counsel in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Supporting patent litigations in district court or administrative procedures.

Requirements:
  • Registered patent attorney with at least 7 years of experience in handling patents, trade secrets, and IP transactions in the US and abroad.
  • Extensive experience in patent application preparation and prosecution in molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or chemistry in the US and foreign jurisdictions.
  • Experience preparing invalidity and non-infringement memoranda and opinions, and drafting scientific collaboration agreements.
  • Excellent communication skills to advise business executives and senior scientists on legal issues.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision from the Chief Counsel, IP.
