Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team at Staff Financial Group. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring timely and accurate billing for our healthcare clients.

Salary Range:$55,000 - $70,000 per year

Key Responsibilities
  • You will be responsible for communicating with healthcare providers and legal professionals to request payment and update payment status.
  • You will follow up on unpaid medical insurance claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe.
  • You will review and appeal denied or unpaid medical claims.
  • You will generate and review statements for legal services related to healthcare billing.
  • You will call patients regarding all non-responsive attorneys.
  • You will schedule follow-up reminders for assigned attorneys.
  • You will document actions in our practice management system.
  • You will collaborate with medical billing and coding staff to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate billing records.
  • You will prepare reports and analyze accounts receivable status for management review.
  • You will answer all attorney/patient inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
  • You will carry out collection and reporting activities according to specific deadlines.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • You must have proven experience as a Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist or Legal Accounts Receivable Specialist, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • You should be familiar with medical and legal billing software (e.g., Nextgen) and proficient in modern IT software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce, Word, etc.).
  • You should have a strong understanding of medical billing processes, including CPT and ICD-10 coding, and legal billing practices.
  • You should possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with healthcare providers, legal professionals, and patients.
  • You should have excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in billing records.
  • You should possess customer service skills for interacting with attorneys and patients regarding payments.
  • You should be able to work well in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and multitask efficiently.
  • You should have strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • You should possess problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies and collections.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare billing/accounts receivable environment or related field, or any combination of education, training, or experience in a healthcare business office environment.
