Overview of the Role

This Lead Technician position is a key member of our U.S.-based global systems integrator team, providing technology solutions and services for commercial and government clients. As a full-time permanent role supporting a key client in Columbus, OH, you will be responsible for managing all phases of Datacenter installation projects.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant industry experience and demonstrate good customer skills, with total responsibility for the job layout and plan of execution. You should stay current with the latest technologies and installation procedures and have a full understanding of the scope of work.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all phases of Datacenter installation projects.
  • Assume total ownership from the receipt of completed engineering "work package" to delivery of project completion and final documentation.
  • Exhibit great customer service and deliver projects according to the customer's expectations.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • 3-5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrate good customer skills.
  • Total responsibility for the job layout and plan of execution.
  • Stay current with the latest technologies and installation procedures.
  • Fully competent in testing and troubleshooting of copper and fiber cable plant systems in accordance with TIA/EIA standards and BICSI standards.
  • Fully competent at installation and termination of various copper and fiber products in accordance with TIA/EIA standards and BICSI standards.
  • Competent in directing teams in assembling, installing, and securing various cable trays, racks, and cabinets used in telecommunications closets.
  • Understand the basic principles of grounding and bonding as described in the BICSI installation methods and capable of properly bonding cable trays and grounding racks, cable trays, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in the proper operation of Vision's Cat5, Cat5E, Cat6 testers, including proper operation, saving test results, and downloading and storing test results on the network.
  • Knowledgeable in the proper operation of Vision's fiber power meter testers, including proper operation, saving test results, and downloading and storing test results on the network.
  • Knowledgeable in the proper operation of an OTDR, including proper operation, saving test results, and downloading and storing test results on the network.
  • Fully capable of interpreting test results from fiber and copper testers and successfully troubleshooting and repairing the fiber or copper cable plant to ensure correct and valid tests.
  • Ability to drive company vehicle throughout the day.
  • Knowledge of fiber terms and troubleshooting.

Salary and Benefits

As a Telecommunications Installation Manager at Venture Talent Consulting, you can expect a competitive salary of $70,000-$100,000 per year, depending on your experience and qualifications.
