Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Eastern US State Government Relations Manager to join our team. As the primary point of contact for state and local governments in the Eastern United States, you will be responsible for shaping the policy environment, protecting our reputation, and driving business growth through strategic relationships and advocacy efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Execute Strategic Plans: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to create effective government relations strategies, focusing on legislative and public policy matters impacting PayPal's operations in the Eastern United States.
  • Navigate Complex Regulatory Landscapes: Stay up-to-date on key legislative and administrative initiatives, identifying potential threats and opportunities to inform our advocacy efforts.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Foster positive relationships with key government officials, including governors, state legislators, attorneys general, and local representatives, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Liaise with Global Teams: Coordinate with colleagues in Legal, Compliance, and Government Relations worldwide to ensure alignment and consistency in our global approach.
  • Provide Commercially Relevant Advice: Offer clear, concise guidance on government policy issues affecting our US business, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive informed decision-making.
  • Support Senior Leaders: Provide updates on relevant legislative and regulatory developments, assist in developing company positions, and outline mitigation or management responses as needed.

Requirements:

  • Government Relations Expertise: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in state government relations, preferably with a focus on payments, financial services, consumer/retail banking, e-commerce, or similar industries.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, exercise sound judgment, and consistently demonstrate resourcefulness and self-motivation.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to various stakeholders.

Benefits:

PAYPAL OFFERS A COMPETITIVE SALARY RANGE OF $120,000 - $180,000 PER YEAR, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible work arrangements, employee stock options, health and life insurance, and more.
