We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Spintronics Development Engineer to join our innovative team at Western Digital Capital. As a key member, you will be responsible for researching and developing next-generation materials and thin film stacks for spintronic devices in read/write hard disk drive heads.

Your expertise in magnetic materials and thin film deposition will enable you to develop innovative solutions for complex technical issues and shape WD's technical strategy. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand device requirements, define metrics for sensor stack processes, and ensure meeting product requirements on both performance and reliability.

About the Role
  • Deliver next-generation spintronic thin film stacks for magnetic sensors and transducers alongside a team of process development engineers and technicians.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and equipment engineering counterparts on process transfer, tool qualifications, and specifications.
  • Align with Design, Characterization, and Program teams to understand device requirements and define metrics for sensor stack processes.
  • Work closely with other module and integration leaders to develop new process building blocks.
What We Offer

We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including a competitive salary range of $160,565 - $227,400 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive compensation package, we also offer:

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Ph.D. degree in Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • At least 10 years' experience working on magnetic materials and thin film deposition.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Ability to set and model high standards for effective interactions, often across groups.
