Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Services Coordinator to join our team at Down East Community Hospital. In this role, you will provide exceptional support to our physicians by performing various clerical and information services functions.

Main Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for registering patients, obtaining demographic and insurance information, and entering it into our computer system.
  • Scanning documents and ensuring accuracy is crucial in this role, as well as proficiently using electronic signatures for consents.
  • You will also perform electronic insurance verification, answer phones, and direct calls to the appropriate recipient.
  • Your schedule will include scheduling patient appointments, confirming them manually if necessary, and preparing daily patient charts.
  • An additional responsibility will be collecting co-pays and payments via check, cash, or debit/credit card.
  • You will work closely with other departments to ensure quality indicators are met and participate in compliance activities, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to hospital policies.
  • Maintaining office cleanliness, security, and other monitoring duties are also part of your responsibilities.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is required, along with proficiency in typing, telephone communication, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • An associate degree from a medical secretary program or two years' experience in an office setting is preferred.
  • You must possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and push/pull 100 pounds occasionally.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is approximately $45,000 per year, based on industry standards and location factors.
