Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Disability and Absence Management Director to lead our team in delivering high-quality services to our clients. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our disability and absence management programs, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our clients.

Your primary focus will be on developing and executing strategies that drive business growth, improve client satisfaction, and enhance employee engagement. You will work closely with our sales and marketing teams to identify new opportunities, develop targeted solutions, and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Provide strategic direction and vision for our disability and absence management programs, ensuring they align with company goals and objectives.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement effective programs that meet client needs and drive business outcomes.
  • Client Relationships: Foster strong relationships with key clients, understanding their unique challenges and developing tailored solutions to address their needs.
  • Talent Development: Identify, recruit, and develop top talent to join our team, ensuring we have the necessary expertise to deliver exceptional results.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day operations of our disability and absence management team, ensuring seamless delivery of services and continuous improvement.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to ensure accurate tracking and optimization of resources.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Experience: Minimum eight years progressive experience in managing integrated disability and absence management programs, preferably in an employer-based setting.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leadership experience in a disability/absence insurance carrier claim operation or third-party administrator claim operation.
  • Expertise: In-depth knowledge of disability/absence best practice benchmarking and metrics.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills, change management skills, and customer focus.
  • Organizational: Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Leadership Experience: Six years in an increasing supervisory or leadership capacity required.
  • Certifications: Current membership/leadership in professional organization critical to the field, such as Certified Disability Manager (CDM) or Certified Case Manager (CCM).
  • Education: Master's degree or higher preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in a broader integrated health and productivity model, including healthcare, on-site clinics, wellness, and EAP.
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business operations, finance, and human resources.

The estimated salary for this position is between $120,000 and $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and location. We offer a comprehensive compensation package, including benefits, training, and career development opportunities.
