Precision Toolmaker

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker to join our team at Allegion. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality tools and dies, ensuring precision and accuracy in every aspect of your work.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce parts for small production quantities and create part samples for experimental or prototype units
• Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or assemblies
• Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes
• Fabricate, assemble, and modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine tools and hand tools
• Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance
• Perform tasks such as filing, grinding, shimming, and adjusting parts to ensure proper fit and function
• Follow safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; three years of related experience preferred
• Ability to operate precision equipment and follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work effectively in independent situations and exercise good judgment to reach sound conclusions
• Ability to read, interpret, and perform from various documents, including method sheets, assembly drawings, production reports, and safety rules

Working Conditions

• Exposure to various chemicals, temperature changes, moderate noise levels, and vibration
• Exposure to dirt and/or dust, sharp objects, and moving mechanical parts
