We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team as an Infant/Toddler Specialist at the Darlington County Community Action Agency.
About the RoleThis is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children and their families. As an Infant/Toddler Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality early childhood education and care to children from six weeks to three years old.
Responsibilities- Create a nurturing environment that promotes positive development of social and emotional competencies.
- Observe and understand patterns to determine possible causes of challenging behavior and implement preventive measures.
- Teach new social and communication skills in partnership with families.
- Develop individual goals for all children with a classroom partner and families.
- Document children's progress using observations and anecdotal notes.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding staff and family information.
- Sustain a safe and healthy classroom environment suitable for infants/toddlers.
- Participate in assigned meetings, events, and training as required.
- An Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or an Infant and Toddler CDA certification is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a preschool (infant/toddler) classroom is desirable.
- Excellent reading, writing, and typing/computer/data entry skills are essential.
- The ability to pass background checks and health screening is mandatory.
- This role requires standing, walking, talking, hearing, and using hands to handle objects frequently.
- Lifting and moving heavy objects and/or children weighing up to 50 lbs may be necessary.
- Maintaining a clean classroom area may require using cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ability to physically interact with children, set up classrooms/office areas, and assist with safety protocols.
The estimated salary for this position is $35,000-$45,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
