Job Summary:

As a Registered Nurse Intermediate Cardiothoracic Unit at Brown University Health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager, you will implement, supervise, and evaluate the nursing care of each patient using a nursing process and in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care, ensuring the highest level of compassion and empathy.
• Lead by example, delegating, supervising, and participating in safe nursing care activities provided by ancillary personnel.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify opportunities for improvement, driving quality and excellence in patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, patient, family, and community services to ensure seamless care and discharge planning.
• Assess and provide appropriate teaching based on patient and family needs, empowering them to take control of their health.
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and research activities, staying at the forefront of best practices.
• Utilize all available resources to provide quality, cost-effective patient care, ensuring the best possible outcomes.

Requirements:

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
• Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred, with a strong foundation in nursing principles and practices.
• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island, with a commitment to ongoing education and professional development.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Visual and aural ability to monitor patient status, with a focus on safety and vigilance.
• Physical ability to assist in lifting and positioning patients, with a commitment to patient mobility and comfort.
• Exposure to patient care environment, with a focus on infection control and patient safety.
• Physical ability for extensive walking and standing, lifting, positioning, and pushing patients on stretchers, with a commitment to patient mobility and comfort.
