Job Description

As an Ophthalmic Assisting Program Instructor, you will be responsible for providing quality instruction to Ophthalmic Assisting students in both the classroom and clinical settings. Your duties will include:

  • Providing quality instruction to Ophthalmic Assisting students in both the classroom and clinical settings.
  • Submitting all applicable program documentation in accordance with established JCAHPO program guidelines and time frames.
  • Ensuring that all training and skill activities adhere to the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) standards.
  • Continuing to establish new clinical sites and keeping current clinical affiliations updated.
  • Serving as Program Director for required program accreditation.
  • Maintaining currency of program curriculum and managing on-site ophthalmic lab and equipment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Two years of work experience in an ophthalmic practice.
  • JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or higher.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and successful experience managing program records.
  • Demonstrated communication skills in order to effectively convey information to a diverse student population.
