As a Medical Care Specialist on our Surgical Telemetry Unit, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to surgical patients. About the Role
This part-time position offers flexibility and autonomy in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with surgeons, advanced practice providers, and certified wound ostomy continence nurses to deliver comprehensive care. The skills and knowledge gained on this unit can translate to various roles, including pre-anesthesia, operating room, post-anesthesia care unit, or wound care/ostomy track positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient care and service by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, and performing treatment procedures.
- Develop and document individualized care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed.
- Maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans, and progress.
Requirements
- AS in Nursing (Required)
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA) certification
- RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED) licensure
