Description
Texas Institute for Surgery (TIS) is a state-of-the-art surgical hospital dedicated to providing exceptional surgical services and patient care in the heart of Dallas, Texas.
We have nine ORs and radiology services, as well as nine patient and family-friendly inpatient rooms for longer recovery needs.
Our facility was founded and is jointly owned by a select group of highly-acclaimed Dallas surgeons and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.
Our surgeons specialize in orthopedic surgery, back and spine surgery, ENT procedures, plastic surgery, foot and ankle surgery, urological surgical care, sports medicine, and other specialties.
Purpose
The licensed physical therapist (PT) evaluates and treats patients, maintaining documentation of services in the medical record.
The PT will carry out an individualized program of physical therapy, including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals.
The PT will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care, consulting with surgeons as needed to evaluate patients based upon physician orders and treat patients according to the treatment plan.
Reviews patients' functional needs and adjusts care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Designs and implements a plan of care for patients based on a thorough assessment of potential development and incorporates participation by significant others whenever it seems appropriate.
Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care, recording clinical documentation according to accepted regulatory and professional guidelines.
Demonstrates a positive attitude and team building approach with all patients, clients, and co-workers.
Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Works closely and communicates with PACU manager, Inpatient Manager, and lead as needed regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
Practices hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans.
Participates in discharge planning.
Floated between departments as determined by patient needs (including rotating coverage on weekends).
Maintains professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Keeps up to date on professional requirements with cleaning maintenance of treatment area and department.
Other duties as assigned.
