Transportation Specialist

Boone County Schools is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Transportation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a school bus in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
Supervise the seating of students and ensure that all seats are filled before any pupil is permitted to stand in the aisle.
Transport only students authorized to ride the assigned bus and report any overcrowded conditions to the Manager Transportation.
Maintain student discipline when students are on the bus and report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
Clean the inside and outside of the assigned bus daily and perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as requested by the supervisor.
Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
Ability to read and follow written directions.
One year of experience in the operation of a motor vehicle.
Physical and mental ability to operate a bus safely and satisfactorily.
Must be 21 years of age and hold a Commercial Driver's License-Class B- Endorsement P & S, that is valid for interstate driving, and a Kentucky School Bus Driver Certificate.
Must pass a driving record check and have valid certification in CPR/First Aid training.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a school bus environment with frequent exposure to noise, vibrations, and varying weather conditions.
Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and push/pull a bus to ensure safe operation.
Terms of Employment:
Hourly (Grade 33)
180 days - 246 days
9-1⁄- 12 months
