Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist is a key member of the Great Dane team, responsible for supporting all functions of the Human Resources department. This role requires a strong generalist with expertise in employee relations, HRIS, compensation and benefits, talent management, and organizational development.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee-related databases, preparing and analyzing reports as necessary to support departmental and company functions.
- Partner with local management to communicate HR policies, procedures, and laws, ensuring compliance and adherence.
- Conduct thorough workplace investigations in response to employee complaints or concerns, maintaining confidentiality and objectivity.
- Advise managers and supervisors on the progressive discipline system, providing guidance on employment issues and counseling as needed.
- Assist with monitoring employee wages and promotions, ensuring fairness and equity.
- Process, verify, and maintain personnel-related documentation, including background checks, new hire paperwork, E-Verify, and status changes.
- Administer benefits enrollment and handle leaves of absence requests, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Protect the interests of employees and the company, adhering to company policies and governmental laws.
- Manage full-cycle recruiting efforts, preparing job postings, placing recruitment ads, screening applicants and resumes, conducting candidate interviews and reference checks, and providing hiring managers with top candidates.
- Maintain employee hardcopy files and input employee personal data into the HRIS database.
- Process various forms related to documenting human resources activities, such as new-hire, change-of-status, performance evaluations, benefits, terminations, and more.
- Handle employees' day-to-day questions and inquiries on policies, benefits, payroll, and compensation.
- Assist the HR Manager in identifying, evaluating, and resolving employee relations, employee morale, work performance, and organizational productivity concerns.
- Support the HR Manager in managing and implementing engagement committee events.
- Complete documentation for employment verifications, medical support, and unemployment claimant responses.
- Ensure adherence to applicable employment law-related regulations and statues, as well as organizational procedures and policies.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Industrial/Organizational Psychology, with directly related experience, including at least two years of experience working with an HRIS, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of progressive Human Resource experience, including employee relations and HRIS.
- Certifications: PHR/SPHR preferred.
- Strong generalist experience.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to perform statistical analysis.
- Previous HRIS experience, including applicant tracking systems.
- Advanced experience in MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of recruiting, human resources, and organizational development practices and procedures.
- Ability to recruit and evaluate applicants using independent judgment and discretion.
- Understanding of administrative procedures and systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude, high energy, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented.
