Job Summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Survey Party Chief to lead our land surveying department. As a key member of our team, you will oversee the daily functions of the survey crew, ensuring the successful completion of projects. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to interpret blueprints and plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily functions of the survey crew, ensuring the successful completion of projects.
  • Interpret blueprints and plans to effectively lead the survey crew.
  • Ensure the proper reporting of daily work logs and survey data to the Org Manager.
  • Operate all survey equipment and interpret data to report information to the Org Manager.
  • Effectively manage the time and schedules of the survey crew.
Requirements
  • Five (5) years verifiable experience in running a crew in surveying commercial and/or heavy industrial construction stakeout.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Be able to read and comprehend measurements.
  • Intermediate math skills, including trigonometry and coordinate geometry.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in the outside elements of the field up to 100% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day and walk long distances.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb on a ladder.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites.
