Job Overview

This role is a key position in our manufacturing team, responsible for developing programs to control machining or processing of metal parts by automatic machine tools, equipment, or systems.

About the Job
  • This CNC Machinist will work in an established machine shop specializing in customization of parts.

The ideal candidate must be able to program and adjust as needed throughout the process.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Modify Existing Programs: Enhance deficiencies to improve overall efficiency.
  • Program Entry and Verification: Enter computer commands to store or retrieve parts patterns, graphic displays, or programs. Compare encoded tapes or computer printouts with original part specifications and blueprints to verify accuracy of instructions.
  • Program Development: Write programs in the language of a machine's controller and store programs on media. Determine reference points, cutting paths, or hole locations and compute angular and linear dimensions.
  • Analysis and Revision: Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, printed circuit board pattern films, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates. Revise programs or tapes to eliminate errors and retest programs to check that problems have been solved.
  • Coordinate Entry: Enter coordinates of hole locations into program memories by depressing pedals or by buttons of programmers.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3-5 years prior experience in a machine shop.
  • Able to bend, stoop, kneel, stretch, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Educational Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 per year
