Job Summary

A psychiatrist plays a vital role in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of mental, addictive, and emotional disorders. They specialize in understanding the biological, psychological, and social components of illness, making them uniquely qualified to treat the whole person.

Main Responsibilities
  • Interview patients to gather information about their symptoms, medical histories, and family histories.
  • Perform and/or interpret diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Diagnose and design a treatment plan for injuries and/or illnesses.
  • Prescribe or administer medications as necessary.
  • Prepare, maintain, and review patient records, including histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.

Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.
