At Marriott International, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Steward at the JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America. As a key member of our food and beverage service team, you will play a critical role in ensuring exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Job Summary

The Steward is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen areas, operating cleaning equipment efficiently, and managing dishwashing duties effectively. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to achieve common goals.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including dish washers, hand wash stations, and trash compactors.
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen and store room areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment regularly.
  • Receive deliveries, store perishables properly, and rotate stock to ensure efficient inventory management.
  • Ensure clean wares are stored in designated areas, promoting a safe and healthy environment.
  • Utilize 3-compartment sinks to sanitize dishes using detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals.
  • Inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items, returning soiled items for re-scrubbing and re-washing as needed.
  • Rack and spray all racked items with hot water to loosen and remove food residue.
  • Sort, soak, and wash/re-wash silverware to ensure high-quality presentation.
  • Break down dirty bus tubs and empty trashcans and dumpster area regularly.
  • Clean and mop all areas in assigned departments, promoting a clean and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Dispose of glass in designated containers, contributing to a sustainable and eco-friendly environment.
  • Break down cardboard boxes and place them and other recyclables in the recycle bin.
Requirements
  • No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
  • No supervisory experience necessary.
  • No specific education or certifications required.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills essential.
  • Able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as reaching overhead and below knees.
