Job Title: Transportation Engineer/Planner

MetroPlan Orlando is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer/Planner to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in advancing transportation system management and operations planning (TSMO) in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Director of TSMO to develop and implement standards, policies, and best practices for TSMO planning.
  • Manage projects and tasks assigned to the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) under TSMO, ensuring timely completion and effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical assistance to local and state agencies, as well as stakeholders, to advance transportation systems analysis and planning for TSMO.
  • Develop and implement conceptual project improvements and TSMO solutions to address traffic signal, traffic safety, and urban congestion issues.
  • Manage consultant contracts and agreements that support planning for TSMO, including developing documentation for contract funding, RFPs, and related documents.
  • Identify funding opportunities under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) or state programs to advance planning for TSMO, safety, and system reliability.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in urban planning, civil engineering, or transportation planning, or a bachelor's degree with seven years of experience in a related field.
  • Five years of experience in transportation engineering systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
