Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled Cardiac Catheterization Specialist for a travel opportunity in California.

Job Overview: This position requires a dedicated professional to work alongside cardiologists and other medical staff in the cardiac catheterization lab. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment, assisting with diagnostic and interventional procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Procedure Preparation:
    • Prepare the cath lab environment by ensuring all necessary equipment and tools are sterile, functional, and properly set up.
    • Verify patient information before the procedure begins.
    • Assist in preparing patients for procedures, including setting up monitoring equipment and ensuring proper positioning.
    • Provide patient education and reassurance before the procedure.
  • Assisting with Procedures:
    • Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiological studies, and other interventional procedures.
    • Handle sterile instruments during procedures, ensuring correct placement and maintaining a sterile field.
    • Operate X-ray fluoroscopy equipment and assist with imaging during diagnostic tests.
    • Monitor vital signs during procedures and report any abnormalities to the physician.
    • Administer medications under physician direction, ensuring patient safety.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • Monitor patients for immediate complications after the procedure.
    • Assist in transferring patients from the procedure table to recovery.
    • Help with patient recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythm and vital signs.
    • Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and their families.
  • Equipment Management and Maintenance:
    • Maintain, clean, and sterilize cath lab equipment and instruments.
    • Regularly check and troubleshoot cath lab machinery.
    • Order necessary supplies and manage inventory.
    • Assist in calibrating equipment to ensure accurate diagnostic results.
  • Patient Monitoring and Safety:
    • Continuously monitor patient vital signs during procedures.
    • Ensure proper documentation of patient information and procedures.
    • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
    • Monitor the catheter insertion site for signs of complications.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team:
    • Work closely with cardiologists, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Attend pre-procedure meetings to review patient conditions.
    • Assist in evaluating diagnostic test results.
  • Education and Training:
    • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in cardiac catheterization techniques and best practices.
    • Participate in ongoing education and certification programs.
    • Educate patients about their condition and the importance of follow-up care.
    • Assist in training new staff or students in the cath lab environment.
  • Quality Control and Compliance:
    • Adhere to regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, OSHA safety standards, and Joint Commission requirements.
    • Ensure that all procedures meet hospital policies, accreditation standards, and industry regulations.
    • Participate in regular performance audits to ensure quality and safety.
