Job Overview

In this role, you will work as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Medicine Service at Mass General Brigham, providing ambulatory care to patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and excellent communication skills.

About the Role

This is an ongoing 32-hour-per-week position with a hybrid schedule, requiring collaboration with attending physicians, mid-level practitioners, and administrative staff to ensure optimal clinical outcomes. You will be responsible for triaging phone calls, contacting patients for medication updates, and conducting insurance prior authorizations.

Responsibilities
  • Triage phone calls from patients, families, and providers, responding to clinical-related communications.
  • Update medication lists, manage prescription refills, and handle insurance prior authorizations for medications.
  • Conduct insurance prior authorizations for diagnostic testing and procedures.
  • Track, collect, and review outpatient test results, discussing abnormal results with supervising physicians or mid-level practitioners, and informing patients of test results and clinical impact.
  • Complete various medical and administrative forms, such as disability and VNA documentation.
  • Assist with clinical instruction for patients, including medication teaching.
  • Support administrative operations by acting as a clinical liaison to administrative support staff.

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • The ability to problem-solve, function as a resource to other team members, and resolve complex issues on behalf of providers and patients.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, flexibility to manage multiple tasks, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of computer applications necessary for functioning in an ambulatory setting, such as MS Outlook and MS Office Suite.
  • A comfort level in a practice environment that promotes patient-centered care.
