About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Mechanical Engineer/Industrial Designer to lead automation and material handling equipment initiatives for our Last Mile transportation building designs. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our delivery stations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate design efforts to develop optimal automation/MHE equipment design solutions for the last mile network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors and stakeholders to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in very short periods of time.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors, and vendors.
  • Provide technical leadership for large-scale engineering projects, retrofits, and building designs.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to execute the vision, detailed roadmap, and specific technical solutions to make a compelling business case with senior executives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Technology, and Mathematics (or equivalent related experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or Facility design with automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of experience with process design based on Lean Principles.
  • 5+ years of experience in Capital project management.
  • 5+ years of experience with concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making.
  • 5+ years of experience with ownership/management of engineering design projects.
  • 5+ years of experience using business/technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
