The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) seeks an exceptional Relational Database Services Lead to provide senior expertise in the management and administration of relational databases within Infrastructure Services. This critical role involves shaping the strategic direction and operational excellence of relational database management across the University.

This expert will design, implement, and maintain advanced database systems to ensure data integrity, security, and performance. They will provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to the team while developing optimized database schemas, executing performance tuning, implementing robust backup and recovery procedures, and ensuring compliance.

Key responsibilities include monitoring database health, resolving issues, managing user access, collaborating with development teams, optimizing database structures and queries, troubleshooting database issues, and ensuring efficient data retrieval and storage.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing and administrating various database management systems (DBMS), including Oracle, SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. They will possess expert-level understanding of query optimization techniques, indexing strategies, and database performance tuning.

A strong background in database security best practices is essential, along with experience implementing security measures such as user access controls, encryption, and data masking. Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance standards is highly desirable.

This role requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate work assignments to small teams. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience presenting technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience/training in computer science, engineering, or related field required. 7+ years of experience working in information technology, database administration, or software development. Salary: $165,500 - $247,400 (Estimated Annual Rate).
