Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Patient Care Technician, you will provide direct patient care and support services in an in-patient or out-patient environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic patient care, including taking and recording vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Observe patients to ensure their safety and well-being, and report observations to the Charge Nurse or appropriate designee.
  • Assist with patient transfers, and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Document patient information accurately and completely.
  • Participate in educational programs and workshops to enhance professional growth and development.
Requirements
  • High School or GED Equivalent.
  • CNA or Cert EMT-B (ICU) or 1 semester accredited nurse program.
  • 6 months patient care experience.
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days.
Working Conditions

This position requires heavy work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.

The working conditions include significant hazards, such as chemicals and bio-hazardous materials requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
