Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse-Angio Specialty functions in an academic medical center with Level One Trauma designation, ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) receiving center designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center accreditation.

This role demonstrates advanced knowledge in invasive interventional procedures for stable and unstable inpatients and outpatients of all ages. The nurse applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills.

The nurse scrubs, circulates, and/or assists physicians in performing simple and complex diagnostic and interventional procedures including, but not limited to, line placements, drain placements, biopsies, vascular stinting, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt procedures, embolizations and neurodiagnostic procedures.

The nurse performs the nursing process independently and serves as a role model in multidisciplinary age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care delivery methods, problem solving, documentation and communication.

Responsibilities
  • Performs advanced nursing procedures in invasive interventional radiology
  • Assists physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures
  • Provides patient care and education
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Develops and implements patient care plans
Requirements
  • Associate of Science Degree in Nursing required
  • Minimum one year experience in critical care, emergency department, cardiovascular lab or interventional radiology required
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and confined spaces
  • Demonstrates proficient competencies in critical care nursing and angio-interventional radiology procedures
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
