Job Summary

The Youth Caregiver provides support and guidance to youth ages 6-17 with developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and intellectual disabilities, residing in a therapeutic group home setting.

This role includes providing supervision, care, and a positive relationship for youth, teaching life skills, and engaging youth in recreational activities.

The core responsibilities of this position include:

  • Providing trauma-informed care and utilizing positive behavior management techniques when working with youth.
  • Planning and engaging youth in recreational activities.
  • Teaching youth life skills.
  • Managing daily routines in the residential cottage.
  • Ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the cottage environment.
  • Transporting youth to and from activities and other appointments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED Equivalent
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with at-risk children and families or working in a residential setting.
  • Experience working with individuals that have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities strongly preferred but not required.
  • First Aid and CPR certified or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid Florida driver's license with no record of criminal driving offense or license suspension.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background, and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.
