About the Role:
">The Wildlife Expedition Guide will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging tour narratives, conducting natural history presentations, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for our passengers.
">Key Responsibilities:

- Tour Narrative Development: Collaborate with the duty captain to create a compelling tour narrative that takes into account time constraints, weather conditions, recent sightings, and other relevant factors.">
- Passenger Safety and Orientation: Direct passengers during boarding and disembarking, conduct safety and emergency orientations, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.">
- Commentary and Personal Interaction: Work closely with Guest Services crew members to provide informative commentary and personal interaction with passengers, promoting a positive and memorable experience.">
- Vessel Duties: Assist with vessel operations, including line handling, docking/undocking, and mooring procedures as requested by the vessel captain.">
- Maintenance and Sanitation: Contribute to maintaining the vessel's appearance, cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards.">
- Other Duties: Perform other tasks under the supervision of the Captain, ensuring seamless operation and exceptional customer service.">
Requirements:

- Certifications: Hold CPR/FA certification and an Alaska Food Handlers card prior to the first day of employment. Employees 21+ must obtain TAPS certification to serve alcohol.">
- Communication Skills: Effectively communicate with up to 150 passengers on a PA system, utilizing clear and concise language.">
- Knowledge and Background: Develop a thorough understanding of pertinent background material provided onboard, enabling informed presentations to passengers.">
- Teamwork and Adaptability: Demonstrate strong teamwork skills, working collaboratively with other crew members to deliver coordinated narration and exceptional customer experiences.">
- Personal Qualities: Possess a clean, well-groomed appearance, exhibit courtesy and honesty, and demonstrate reliability and a flexible attitude.">
Preferred Qualifications:

- Prior Experience: Ideal candidates possess prior experience working on passenger-carrying vessels and extensive public speaking experience.">
- Natural Resource Background: A biology or natural resource background is highly desirable, as is a college degree in a related field.">
- Previous Roles: Previous experience as a naturalist, guide, or related position is also beneficial.">
Compensation and Benefits:
">We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development.
">Work Environment:
">As a Wildlife Expedition Guide, you will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring flexibility and adaptability. You will be based in Southeast Alaska, with the potential to work on various vessels, navigating diverse weather conditions and terrain.
">Physical Demands:
">The physical demands of this role include working long hours (10-14 hours per day) and navigating uneven deck surfaces, potentially involving lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds. Protective clothing and life preservers will be required.
