Exceptional Opportunity for a Physician Assistant in Bariatric and General Surgery at Central Maine Healthcare

Estimated Salary: $120,000 per yearThis role is part of our dedicated bariatric and general surgery services team, providing patient care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. As an experienced Physician Assistant, you will be responsible for managing a clinic schedule, performing physical exams, interpreting lab results, and prescribing medication for patients undergoing bariatric and general surgery procedures.
You will also assist in the operating room with surgeons during general surgery and bariatric cases, working closely with a well-supported team of healthcare professionals. Your essential duties will include:
- Performing and documenting consults, admission history, and physicals for inpatients
- Conducting clinical visits for consultations, pre- and post-op visits, and follow-up visits
- Interpreting lab results, imaging, and diagnostic tests to develop treatment plans in collaboration with physicians
- Providing first and second assists to surgeons during operations
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A graduate degree from an accredited physician assistant program or nurse practitioner program
- Certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANPCB)
- Licensure or registration in the State of Maine or ability to obtain it
- Two years of experience as an APP, with a preference for previous surgical experience, particularly in general, bariatric, and robotic surgery
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Central Maine Healthcare offers a competitive compensation package, including:
- A salary of $120,000 per year
- Four 10-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays
- 28 days of sick/vacation time
- $3,000 towards continuing medical education (CME) expenses annually
- Five CME days off annually
- Reimbursement for one professional membership per year
