About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Precision Grinder to join our team at Belvac. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual and CNC grinding machines to perform precision ID, OD, form, and surface grinding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC grinding machines to perform precision grinding operations.
  • Study blueprint or layout to visualize grinding operations and plan sequence of operations.
  • Experience with the setup and operation of precision grinding equipment, including diamond and super-abrasive grinding wheels.
  • Perform plunge grinding, traverse grinding, face grinding, form grinding, multi-axis grinding, and angle grinding.
  • Recognize and address abrasive wheel wear, and program CNC grinding machines when necessary.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, indicators, and bore gauges, to work to tolerances of 0.0001.
  • Selection and use of equipment, such as grinding magnets, vises, and specialty fixtures.
  • Understand and correct for unexpected taper and other inaccuracies in grinding.
  • Selection and use of various wheel types and styles, including knowledge of abrasives, speeds, and feeds.
  • Understand and implement general machine set-up principles.
  • Operate multiple machines simultaneously and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, operate overhead cranes, and use hand tools, files, sanders, and grinders.
  • Good eye-hand coordination and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
